Purpose of Therapy

Therapy provides a confidential space to explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life situations with the goal of increasing insight and well-being. Sessions are collaborative and may involve discussing difficult topics. You are always free to ask questions, take breaks, or end therapy at any time.

Communication

All sensitive communication should be done either via the Terapeutbooking platform, on a phone call, or in-session. Email, including but not limited to info@villagetherapy.dk is not GDPR-compliant and should only be used for scheduling, billing, and other non-sensitive matters.

Confidentiality

All information shared in therapy is confidential and protected under Danish law. Your information will not be shared with anyone without your written consent, except in the following cases:

  • If there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
  • If there is reason to believe a child or vulnerable person is at risk.
  • If required by a court order or Danish law.
  • In supervision and consultation (required for professional development), identifying details are not shared.

Data Protection (GDPR)

Village Therapy complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your personal information is stored securely and used only for therapeutic and administrative purposes.
Electronic records are password-protected and encrypted.
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data at any time.
Records are retained for one (1) year after your last session, unless you request earlier deletion where legally permissible.

Session Fees & Cancellation Policy

Sessions are 50 minutes and cost 1.100dkk-1.150dkk for an individual session (depending on the therapist) and 1.500dkk (incl. VAT) for couples sessions.

Payment is due immediately after each session unless otherwise agreed in writing. If a stored payment method fails, the client remains responsible for the full session fee.

Invoices are due within 7 calendar days from the invoice date.

If payment is not received by the due date, the following procedure applies:

A written payment reminder (rykker) will be sent with a new payment deadline of minimum 10 calendar days.
A reminder fee of 100 DKK may be added per reminder, up to a maximum of three reminders, in accordance with Danish debt collection regulations.
Interest may be charged on overdue amounts in accordance with the Danish Interest Act (Renteloven) from the original due date until payment is received.
If payment is not received after the final reminder, the outstanding balance may be transferred to a debt collection agency (inkasso), and additional recovery costs may be added in accordance with Danish law.
Unpaid balances will result in suspension of further sessions. Any scheduled appointments may be cancelled until the outstanding amount is settled.

Cancellations are free of charge if made at least 24 hours before session. Therapists at Village Therapy may reserve the right to incur a fee up to the full session fee for a late cancellation or no-show.

Online Sessions

Online therapy is offered via a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform. You are responsible for ensuring privacy on your end (quiet, confidential space, stable internet).

Therapeutic Relationship

Therapy can be emotionally challenging. You may experience uncomfortable feelings as you explore new insights or patterns. This is a normal part of the process. You are encouraged to share your experience openly so we can adjust the pace and approach as needed.

Professional Boundaries

The therapeutic relationship is professional and time-limited. Outside of therapy sessions, communication is limited to practical matters (scheduling, payment, brief follow-up).

Purpose of Couples Therapy

Couples therapy provides a structured and confidential space for partners to explore their relationship, including patterns of interaction, communication, emotional connection, and areas of conflict. The goal is to increase understanding, improve relational functioning, and support informed decision-making about the relationship.

Sessions are collaborative and may involve discussing difficult or emotionally charged topics. Both partners are encouraged to participate openly. Either partner may ask questions, take breaks, or choose to end couples therapy at any time.

Confidentiality in Couples Therapy

Couples therapy differs from individual therapy in how confidentiality is handled.

The therapeutic relationship is with the relationship, not with either individual partner. Information shared in sessions is considered part of the couples work.

Information shared in couples therapy is confidential and protected under Danish law, except in the following cases:

  • If there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
  • If there is reason to believe a child or vulnerable person is at risk.
  • If required by a court order or Danish law.
  • In supervision and consultation (required for professional development), identifying details are not shared.

Individual disclosures:

If one partner shares information individually with the therapist that is clinically relevant to the relationship, the therapist may bring this information into joint sessions. The therapist does not agree to keep secrets that materially affect the work of couples therapy (for example, ongoing infidelity, significant deception, or safety-related concerns).
